HI, I’M ABBY.

(SHE/HER)

I’m about people.

While my education really helped me understand how capable I am, I see the system itself is very problematic. My history drives my work with students: I was a girl becoming a woman in a patriarchal space.

Mostly, I want you to know: your experience is yours, unique and valid. I’m not here to compare it to mine or to even have a place in it. I want to hold space for you to become even more yourself.

SO, HERE’S THE DEAL.

I know you might have your own study system already in place. It’s been working fine enough. You’re cool with where you’re at in school. But you’re here, reading about me, which means there might be something or even a lot of things I can do to help make your system better than it is. And what about the world outside your academics? I can help you cultivate who you are beyond your academic life and help you learn how you manage your day-to-day responsibilities and personal development.

I want to teach you to create a school-life balance so much sooner than college or your first job. If you put the same wits you’ve used to develop your current academic strategies toward working with me, I know you can “do the thing.”

HOW CAN I PROMISE YOU SUCCESS?
BECAUSE IT WORKED AND CONTINUES TO WORK FOR ME.

Growing up, I was a B and C student. Even though I took classes I loved, I struggled with test-taking, study planning, and overall confidence in my academics. It wasn’t until I went to college that I learned skills that fundamentally opened the doors for me in how to prepare and achieve my goals. And that’s when I started earning A’s.

I grew into myself, and I began to understand about myself what I know is true about you: we are smart enough. We are good enough. I saw my innate skill and began to redefine my educational blueprint. I was ready to achieve.

EMPOWERED LEARNING

If I’d had these tools earlier, I would have spent so much less time stressing about grades and the uncertainty of the future. The world hasn’t gotten any easier since then, and that means you understand exactly the kind of stress I’m talking about.

YOU MATTER. YOUR ACADEMICS AND SENSE OF SELF DESERVE TO BE NURTURED.

I team up with students like you to simplify your academic workload and free up time to discover what really interests and inspires you to succeed.

SO, WHAT PERSONAL GOALS DID I ACHIEVE THROUGH THE SKILLS I KEEP MENTIONING?

I’m a George Washington University graduate with a Bachelor’s in Women’s Studies, a degree grounded in my passion for history and social justice. My experiences with developing my own study process as an undergraduate transformed into a desire to help students and families in public education, which is why I pursued a Master’s Degree in Social Work, focused on School Based and School Linked Services, from Columbia University in New York City. For the last seven years, I have been a classroom teacher, school administrator, and part-time tutor. I have an at-the-ready muscle memory of the countless textbooks I carried and pored over through the years it took to earn my degrees. I believe there’s more to your story than your assignments or the subjects in school, and you deserve to work with someone who knows how to teach toward that wholeness.
