I KNOW THE STRUGGLE IS REAL.
Whether you need to become a stronger writer for an English course or need help parsing Algebraic equations, I know exactly how to help you succeed in the subjects you find most challenging. In online 1-on-1 sessions, I’ve worked with students to formulate a semester specific action plan or provided structured support throughout a school year.
HOW WE’LL WORK TOGETHER
Though I develop a unique study plan for every student I work with, you can expect our work together to include Weekly 1-1 Sessions and access to weekly study hall sessions.
THE SKINNY ON 1-ON-1 SESSIONS
A typical session together will look like this.
I hope to get to know you personally as well as academically. We’ll spend the first 15 minutes together looking at your Student Learning Plan, which outlines the Habits you are practicing to reach your goals. We celebrate successes and address challenges that might need collaborative problem-solving. Throughout the process, we identify what is working, what’s not, so you can deepen your learning process and continue to build on successes.
MAKE A PLAN
I’ll help you put a plan into place with a planning tool, and then help you manage and update it to keep track of your schedule. We cover everything required to do each of your assignments and break up longer assignments into manageable chunks. We’ll also learn how to prioritize tasks. For example, if you have a test coming up, we will create a study tool or practice strategies for review.
You’ll leave each of our sessions with a chance to voice your thoughts, including sharing takeaways that work for you or a skill you plan to experiment with for the coming week. Together, we’ll tailor our sessions to fit how you best learn.
WHAT HAPPENS BETWEEN SESSIONS
You can text or email me if you need any help throughout the week or feel free to pop into a study hall session for extra help. With each session, we’ll work toward establishing your own self-directed foundation, so that you feel confident in the approach we’ve developed when you’re on your own.
WHAT PARENTS CAN EXPECT
Parents will get a weekly check-in report via Video Message about your progress, upcoming deadlines, and action items you are looking to tackle in the week ahead. I also address how parents can support you with your plans during the week.
